Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on June 14, 2006.
Firstly, session minutes of the Commission, dated on May 5, May 9, May 11, May 13, May 16, May 19, May 23, May 27 and June 7, 2006 were approved.
Later, Mr. Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary reported on the draft of Instruction “on the rules for the collection of voter signatures in support of the candidate to municipality membership and submission of the documents attached to the signature sheet to the Constituency Election Commission in Municipal Elections”. CEC adopted decision on the approval of the draft of this document and on losing validity of “final protocol on the collection of voter signatures”, approved by decision # 15/92 adopted by the Commission on August 25, 2004.
At the session, Instruction “on the transference of voluntary registration deposits to register the candidacy and return them later on in Municipal Elections” was also approved.
CEC also adopted decision on making amendments to “Rules for issuance of signature sheets to the candidate to municipality membership, authorized representatives of the candidate, political parties and political party blocs by the Constituency Election Commission in Municipal Elections” and attaching “Act on the issuance of signature sheets for the collection of voter signatures in support of the candidate to municipality membership in Municipal Elections” to these rules as an Appendice # 2.
CEC also considered current issues.
At the CEC session, representatives of IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems) and mass media also took part.

Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on June 7, 2006.
Firstly, CEC Chairman submitted deputy cards to the persons elected deputy in re-elections to the third call Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, conducted on May 13, 2006.
Later, the issue on the appointment of repeat, new, by-elections conducted to some municipalities for the first time in the Republic of Azerbaijan was put under discussion. It was decided to appoint the above-mentioned elections for October 6, 2006. CEC also approved “Calendar Plan on basic activities and measures for repeat, new by-elections conducted to some municipalities for the first time in the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
Furthermore, CEC adopted decisions on the approval of two instructions concerning the nomination of candidates in Municipal Elections.
At the session, changes were made in the composition of some Constituency Election Commissions.
CEC also considered current issues.
At the CEC session, representatives of the USA embassy, IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems) and mass media also took part.
